On Monday we began a First aid course. At the start of the day the instructor began by telling us what we would learn in the course. We Began by learning about how to deal with someone who is choking. If the person can partially breath we encouraged them to cough we then went onto back slaps and eventually the hymlic manover. we practiced on a Hymlic manover machine. We also learnt that you should never give the hymplic manver to a toddler.
The first day was mainly theory and I learnt a lot. The second day was more practice and we began to try and revive dummy's. Before CPR we:
We learnt how to bandage a broken arm/collar bone, dislocated shoulder or a Large cut on the hand. We learnt how to deal with Asthmatics and also Diabetics.
I really enjoyed the First Aid course and would recommend it to everyone because it is a useful qualification to have in any Job.

- tapped the dummy's collar bone to check for response,
- We then looked for signs of breathing for 5-10 seconds.
- We called for help,
- We asked for an AED
- we began chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 Beats per minute.
- we gave 2 breaths
- and repeated until the AED arrived.
