Health and safety.
I always thought Health and Safety to be a long and boring class but it turned out quite the contrary. On the first day Mr.O'C got us lifting bags of clay across his floor to see if our manual handling techniques were correct. On day one I found out that the keys to good manual handling involve assessing the scene facing in the direction that you want to go, checking the items weight, clearing your path, Bending your knees, keeping a straight back and finally picking up the item with both hands. One of the most important lessons was that everything we do is a risk, everything has a certain risk factor. We need to assess the risk and make a decision on our reaction.
